The role of Human-Computer Interaction in Health Informatics: Why the User Experience Matters.
This seminar will address an often overlooked aspect of health informatics: human-computer interaction (HCI). It will cover the genesis of HCI, landmark achievements in HCI, and their application to health informatics. A model of research to practice will be presented that focuses on employing a user-centric perspective in design, implementation, and evaluation of computing technologies in relevant contexts of use. The seminar will also introduce the Institute for Health Informatics at the University of Minnesota with one of its many goals being to support and enhance the user experience through health informatics research.
